This was one of my favorites when it first came out...it is still one of the best! -- movie with heart
Buy the original, not the Director's cut. They changed the music from Bob Seger, which I thought fit the movie perfectly to Bruce Springsteen. Bruce's music, while I love the songs, did not match the mood of the movie. I was very disappointed. -- Did not like music in Director's cut
The story is about a teenage boy dealing with a terribly disfiguring illness. The mother played by Cher has her hands full trying to help her son and battling her own demons. The charecters are very likeable, if rough around the edges, and well played. What I like about the various charecters in the boys life is how they rally around him. -- Touching Movie
Rusty Dennis is the mother of Rocky, a seriously deformed but extremely intelligent and emotionally warm child. Rusty is a no-nonsense mother whose wild lifestyle is often at odds with her tenderness and protectiveness towards Rocky. She is determined that Rocky be given the same chances and happiness that everyone else takes for granted. The true story of Rocky Dennis (Eric Stoltz) is a heart-breaking movie that pulls absolutely no punches. Cher is excellent as Stoltz's drug-addicted mother who is so good with him, but so poor with most everyone else. Not to be missed by anyone with an interest in true life stories. Highly recommended. A triumph in storytelling. -- Mask (Director's Cut, Widescreen)
